Report: Marcelo Bielsa backs Leeds’ stance in Dan James stalemate

Leeds United are reportedly trying to get a late move for Daniel James across the line.

According to a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Marcelo Bielsa backs Leeds’ decision to not break the bank to try and get a move for Dan James across the line on transfer deadline day.

James’ future has been a talking point for much of the window, with the Swansea winger seemingly proving to be one of the only players on the market that Bielsa has actually been keen on landing.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that James is the Leeds boss’ number one winger target, but they have so far been unable to agree a deal with their Championship rivals.

The Yorkshire Evening Post adds that the Whites value James at no more than around £5 million, but are willing to discuss potential add-ons that could potentially increase the overall value of a transfer.

The report adds that Bielsa agrees with the club’s stance not to pay over the odds for the 21-year-old, who scored in the Swans’ latest Championship clash on Tuesday night.

Leeds not signing James may feel like a disappointment to some given how long he has been linked with a potential move. The fact that the Whites are willing to spend that much on him also, arguably tells a story about how high Bielsa rates the wide-man.

But given the way that the league leaders have dealt with almost every setback that has come their way this term, it should surprise no-one if Bielsa finds himself able to move on very quickly if James does not end the day as a Leeds player.
