West Bromwich Albion have faced competition from Sunderland to sign Marc Wilson from Bournemouth.

According to the Express and Star, West Bromwich Albion are rated as ‘likely’ to sign Bournemouth defender Marc Wilson this summer.

West Brom have faced competition for the signature of Wilson in recent times, with Sunderland among the clubs interested in the 29-year-old according to the Sunderland Echo.

However, it seems that Wilson is set to move to the Hawthorns, after a successful loan spell last term.

Bournemouth see no future for the defender, but Tony Pulis is a fan – having also worked with Wilson at Stoke City earlier in his career.

Wilson was only utilised as a covering option at West Brom last term, but his versatility makes him a useful squad player.

Wilson is able to play in both defence and midfield, and strengthens the depth in the Baggies’ squad.

West Brom have only completed two signings this summer so far, but Wilson is expected to be one of a number of new arrivals who joins up at the Hawthorns before the close of the transfer window.
