According to a report in the Daily Mail, Wayne Rooney is open to making a move to Everton.

Ronald Koeman has publicly stated that he would like to bring the Manchester United legend to Goodison Park in the summer.

Rooney will have options from elsewhere, with a host of Chinese clubs interesting in signing him.

The 31-year-old would be set for a major pay rise if he was to move to China, but Rooney is said to be willing to consider taking a pay cut to move to Everton.

Rooney grew up on Merseyside and came through the ranks at Everton, and a return to his boyhood club reportedly appeals.

Everton believe that they could get a transfer over the line, as Rooney as struggled to break into Jose Mourinho’s team this term.

The England record scorer has started just nine matches for United, with Jose Mourinho favouring other options.

When Rooney was at Everton as a youngster, he scored 17 goals in 77 appearances for the Toffees.
