Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.
According to Spanish media outlet Don Balon, Manchester United stopper David De Gea has told his international teammate Sergio Ramos that Jose Mourinho has identified Real Madrid star Gareth Bale as his primary transfer target for the summer.
Bale, 28, joined Los Blancos from Tottenham in the summer of 2013, for a then world record fee of £85.3 million, but it could be argued that he has failed to live up to expectations in the Spanish capital.
The Wales international has still managed to chalk up an impressive 79 goals and 58 assists in 179 appearances during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, however, and possesses undoubted quality.
According to the Mirror, the signing of Bale features highly on Mourinho’s agenda this summer, and that claim seems to be backed up by Don Balon’s latest report.
Bale is still under contract with Madrid until the summer of 2022, so he certainly won’t come cheap, but what a sensational signing he would be for United, if Mourinho somehow manages to get a deal for him over the line in the summer.
