Manchester United are working on a deal to sign reported Newcastle target Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid that will let Diogo Dalot transfer to Roma, as per Gianluca Di Marzio.
Jose Mourinho made a special request to the Giallorossi to sign Dalot in the mid-season market. He has remained a big fan of his compatriot since buying him from Porto in 2018.
The Red Devils paid £19m for the Portuguese, who Mourinho dubbed the ‘best young full-back in Europe’ at the time. But Dalot has failed to establish himself at Old Trafford since.

Dalot now wants to leave Manchester United and return to Italy after spending last season on loan with AC Milan. He has only featured six times for just 316-minutes so far this term.
But Manchester United will only let Dalot join Roma, who want to sign the 22-year-old on loan with an option to buy, if they bring Trippier back to the Premier League from Atleti.
Trippier is one of Manchester United’s great transfer goals, but Newcastle also want to sign the Atletico Madrid right-back. That’s according to Guillem Balague, who claims the Toon have held talks with the former Tottenham Hotspur defender’s representatives already.
The Magpies are really interested in a deal for the England international, who left Spurs in 2019 for £20m. The 31-year-old has since won a La Liga title and is their first-choice option.

Trippier wants Premier League return amid Newcastle and Man Utd transfer interest
But Trippier wants to return to the Premier League, and Eurosport reported he wanted to secure a transfer to Manchester United over interest from Arsenal back in the summer.
“I would love to play in the Premier League again,” he said, via the Daily Mail, last month.
But Atletico had no interest in selling Trippier this summer as he is a key player for Diego Simeone. So much so AS reported the Colchoneros demanded clubs trigger a €60m (£50m) release clause over and over again. Although Eurosport claimed their valuation was £34m.
