Manchester United will reportedly join the race for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar in January.
According to The Mirror, Manchester United will battle Arsenal with a club-record move for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar during the January transfer window.
The Red Devils made three key signings over the summer in Victor Lindelof, Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku, with results so far – three wins and a draw – making United one of the teams to beat this season.
However, Mourinho did actually want four signings this past summer, as he wanted to bring in a left-sided winger, but failed with moves to sign Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic.
Now, The Mirror report that United will switch targets in January, as they are prepared to rival Arsenal for the signing of Monaco winger Thomas Lemar in 2018,
It’s claimed that Lemar’s representatives are already aware of United’s interest in the winger’s signature, and the deal could cost United a club-record £92million should they make their move in January.
Arsenal will allegedly return for Lemar next year having missed out last month, but the France international may be spoilt for choice, as United allegedly prepare a move to land him as Mourinho’s new winger.
Lemar, 21, joined Monaco from SM Caen back in 2015, and the Guadeloupe born wide man took Europe by storm last season, bagging 11 goals and 14 assists in Ligue 1 and the Champions League.
Quick and skilful whilst also possessing an eye for goal and a superb passing range, Lemar is the total package out on the left flank, with his ability to play narrow and help his midfield no doubt appealing to Mourinho, and he could move to reunite Lemar with international team-mates Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial.
