Manchester United are preparing to make a world record bid of £100m to land Juventus star Paul Pogba, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Frenchman is attracting interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Chelsea, the Mirror claims, but the Red Devils are hoping to swoop in and complete a deal by making the incredible offer that would see the record – currently held by Gareth Bale’s move to Real Madrid – smashed by £15m.

In an attempt to sweeten the deal with Pogba himself, the Mirror reports that the contract that United have put on the table is a five-year deal.

If the Premier League side were able to complete the sensational move, Pogba would be the fourth signing since Jose Mourinho took over, with Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan also arriving through the door at Old Trafford this summer.

While the already-signed trio arguably make United one of the favourites to secure a place in the top four this season, Pogba’s return to Manchester would arguably elevate them into a position of being title favourites.

The midfielder has played a key role in helping the Old Lady bag their four most recent Serie A titles, while he also inspired them to the Champions League final in 2015, so would undoubtedly be a player deserving of being the world’s most expensive.
