Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool are unlikely to bid for Manchester United target Cody Gakpo in the January transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.
The report has claimed that Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag wants to bring Gakpo from PSV to Old Trafford after the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
‘United’s hierarchy have been very impressed with Gakpo in Qatar and his performances have cemented their belief that he is right for them’, according to the report, which has added about Liverpool that ‘as it stands, there’s no indication that they will launch a rival bid’.
The Red Devils will ahead with a move and make a bid, according to TEAMtalk.
This latest report comes after speculation in the Dutch media that both Liverpool and Manchester United are keen on the 23-year-old winger, who is doing extremely well for the Netherlands at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Described as “dangerous” by former Arsenal and United striker Robin van Persie on BT Sport (27 October, 5pm), the winger has scored three goals for the Netherlands in Qatar.
According to Voetbal International journalist Marco Timmer on Twitter, Liverpool and United plan to hold talks with the representatives of Gakpo after the World Cup.
