According to The Mirror, Manchester United want Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier – and believe Spurs will sell in order to help fund signings this summer.

The Red Devils will see Antonio Valencia move on this summer, and with Ashley Young ageing now, another right back may well be targeted whilst Diogo Dalot emerges.

A number of players have been tipped for that role, but Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka may be difficult to acquire, meaning other targets are being eyed up.

The Mirror claim that Spurs defender Trippier is one name wanted, and United believe that Tottenham will be prepared to sell the Bury-born right back to fund other moves.

Spurs haven’t signed a player for more than a year now, and it’s thought that Mauricio Pochettino wants to go on a spending spree this summer, and selling Trippier would aid that.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a superb World Cup but has dipped this season, receiving huge criticism from Tottenham fans who have grown tired of his poor defending and limited attacking play outside of his criticism.

United appear to be sold on the former Manchester City defender though, and Spurs may be tempted to cash in and target a younger right back, such as Norwich City’s Max Aarons or even the aforementioned Wan-Bissaka, especially with Trippier earning £65,000-a-week according to The Times.
