The Athletic’s David Ornstein has reported that Manchester United have made an offer to sign Christian Eriksen on a free transfer – amid Newcastle and Tottenham also showing interest in the Danish superstar.
Eriksen, 30, joined Brentford in January after his contract at Inter Milan came to an end. Rules state that he could not play in Italy with an ICD fitted in his chest – meaning he left the Nerazzurri on a free, joining Brentford.

He has sparkled at Brentford, laying on four assists in 11 Premier League matches and even scoring in a 4-1 win over Chelsea. However, Eriksen will not remain at Brentford, turning down the option of renewing his contract.
Reports earlier today suggested that Newcastle have held talks for Eriksen – but that Tottenham are confident of landing the 115-time Denmark ace. Now, Ornstein says United have made an offer for Eriksen.
Manchester United have made Eriksen offer – United, Newcastle or Spurs?
Eriksen has a decision to make. He could join a Spurs side in the Champions League, under a manager he knows well after winning the League and Cup double with Inter in 2020-21. But he might not start.
In fact, he will probably only be a bit-part player for Spurs, used in a rotational system. At Newcastle, he would earn a huge amount of cash but be without any European football whatsoever.
Manchester United would surely anger Tottenham fans if Eriksen moved to Old Trafford – but it might just be his best move. He would start for a giant club, under Erik Ten Hag, and have Europa League football.
