West Ham rate Domingos Quina very highly but other Premier League clubs have been alerted to the teenager’s potential.
Domingos Quina only inked his first professional contract at West Ham 12 months ago but the 17-year-old is already attracting attention from elsewhere.
The Mail reported that the West Ham wonderkid, who has not yet made his Premier League debut, was watched by scouts from Premier League clubs as Portugal’s Under-19s hosted Spain on Tuesday, a game in which Quina scored.
And ESPN is now reporting that Manchester United were the team in question keeping a close eye on one of the most exciting young prospects in English football.
The report adds that Quina currently has a contract until 2019 at the London Stadium and, although talks about a longer-term deal begun last month, United are stepping up their interest ahead of the January transfer window.
Quina, who spent time at Benfica and Chelsea before moving to West Ham in 2016, has made two appearances for the first-team this season, both coming in the EFL Cup as a late substitute.
And, upon signing professional terms last year, academy manager Terry Westley (above) went as far as to claim that the Guinea-Bissau-born Portuguese youngster is one of the best young players in all of Europe, adding that “I haven’t seen any players in our league who can dominate a game like he can and break the lines and go past people like he can,” per the club’s official website.
Quina is arguably the jewel in the crown of West Ham’s academy with Toni Martinez, Reece Oxford and Declan Rice also rated very highly.
