Manchester United have been tracking the Tottenham Hotspur defender all summer, according to reports.

According to a report from the Mirror, Manchester United are preparing a final £40 million take it or leave it offer for Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld.
United have been chasing the Spurs centre-back all summer long, with Jose Mourinho desperate to bolster his defensive ranks at Old Trafford.
The Portuguese has been unsuccessful in his pursuit of the Belgian thus far, though.
According to a report from the Mirror, the Red Devils will make one final £40 million offer for the Tottenham ace, in the hope of tying up a deal before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Alderweireld, 29, has just one year remaining on his current deal with Spurs, although the north London outfit have the option of extending his contract for another 12 months.

If they take up said option, a £25 million release clause will become activated in the Belgium international’s deal, so Tottenham might just be tempted to cash in on him now for £40 million, with just three days remaining until the transfer window slams shut.
The Spurs star is a top class defender, and if Mourinho manages to bring him to Old Trafford for £40 million, it would surely have to be considered as excellent business for Manchester United.
