Manchester United are reportedly ready to cash in on defender Phil Jones.
Manchester United’s Phil Jones
According to The Sun, Manchester United are prepared to sell Phil Jones for £10m in January, with Arsenal and Liverpool allegedly keen on him.
Jones, 24, was touted as one of English football’s top talents during his time with Blackburn Rovers, and his performances led Manchester United to sign him for an alleged £17m back in the summer of 2011. (BBC)

A strong centre back, Jones has failed to really settle into one position at Old Trafford, as he was used at right back and in holding midfield by Sir Alex Ferguson.
Injuries have ravaged Jones of late, as he made just ten Premier League appearances last season, and has yet to feature this term under new United boss Jose Mourinho.
Now, The Sun claim that United are ready to part ways with Jones in the January transfer window, with his injury problems leading Mourinho to target Southampton’s Jose Fonte as a possible replacement.
Manchester United’s Phil Jones in action
It’s stated that United will sell Jones for around £10m, and whilst the Daily Mail claimed that Chelsea and Tottenham were keen on Jones over the summer, it’s now stated that Arsenal and even Liverpool are looking at signing him.
The Gunners added Shkodran Mustafi to their defensive options, and with Per Mertesacker still to come back into the mix alongside Laurent Koscielny and Gabriel Paulista, a move for Jones seems unlikely, especially given the history between Arsene Wenger and Mourinho.

Liverpool is an interesting situation given the question marks over Mamadou Sakho’s future. The Frenchman is out of favour under Jurgen Klopp, and the German may prefer to bring in ap player with Premier League experience, rather than another Bundesliga star like Joel Matip or Ragnar Klavan.
A rarely-seen move from Old Trafford to Anfield would turn heads, but it remains to be seen whether United would sell to their great rivals if Liverpool truly are interested in the England ace.
