According to a report from the Mirror, Manchester United are prepared to sell Anthony Martial this summer, in order to free up funds for a swoop for Real Madrid ace Gareth Bale.

Jose Mourinho is believed to be targeting a number of high-profile signings at Old Trafford this summer, in an attempt to close the gap on their bitter rivals Manchester City.

The Mirror claim that Bale has emerged as a key target for the Red Devils, and they could sign the Welsh wizard for a fee in the region of £90 million – the amount that Los Blancos paid for his services five years ago,

The British tabloid go on to suggest that Mourinho is willing to sacrifice Martial in order to fund a move for the 28-year-old, with Juventus leading the race to sign the Frenchman.

Would Bale be a good signing for United?

Since moving to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2013, Bale has chalked up an impressive 79 goals and 58 assists in 179 appearances in all competitions.

He is still considered to be one of the most dangerous attacking players on the continent, and he would undoubtedly help United improve upon the potency of their play in the final third.

The one reservation that United might have regarding a move for Bale is his questionable record with injuries, and for a fee in the region of £90 million, he might be deemed too risky.

There is only one way to find out, though, and it would be no surprise to see the Wales international lining up for the Red Devils next season.
