Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United are reportedly planning to hold new talks over Kim Min-jae and beat Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to his signature.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has told GiveMeSport that Manchester United will hold new rounds of talks over Napoli defender Kim Min-jae, who is on the radar of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur as well.

Galetti has said that United plan to pay the €60 million (£52 million) release clause for the South Korea international central defender in July.

The journalist said: “There is a new round of meetings scheduled already in the coming days in which Manchester United will try and finalise and reach a full agreement on personal terms.

“Then in early July, the English club already planned to pay to Napoli to the release clause of €60m valid for 15 days to bring in the Korean player, followed also by Liverpool and Tottenham, to the Premier League.”

What should Liverpool do about Kim Min-jae and Manchester United?

In our view, if Liverpool are really determined to sign Kim Min-jae in the summer transfer window, then, like Manchester United, they should trigger the release clause in the Napoli defender’s contract.

If United do the same, then it will be up to the defender to choose between the Red Devils and the Merseyside club.

Liverpool are a big club and a global brand, just like United, and they should be confident of convincing Kim to move to Anfield instead of Old Trafford.

True, Liverpool will not play in the UEFA Champions League next season, but that does not mean that Jurgen Klopp’s side cannot attract top players.

Kim may have won Serie A with Napoli this past season, but a transfer to Liverpool would still be a step-up for the defender.

We believe that if Liverpool are really keen on Kim, then they should step up their pursuit of the Napoli star.
