Now, of course, we have to consider whether Martial himself would be open to a move to the Villans, but at least Villa now have an opening.
We do not think that Martial would be a particularly great signing for Villa given that he has not been a huge success in the Premier League.
Yes, the former AS Monaco star can operate down the middle as a central striker or out wide, but he is not at the level of players that Villa need if they are to seriously challenge for the Premier League top four in the coming years.
