According to SPORT, Manchester United are now in negotiations with Barcelona over a deal for Leeds target Sergino Dest.
What’s the story?
Well, it was said that Jesse Marsch is keen to sign the United States international as he aims to strengthen his full-back options at Elland Road.
However, Leeds could be about to miss out on Dest to their bitter rivals Manchester United.
SPORT believe the Red Devils are in talks with Barcelona over a €20m (£17m) deal for the right-back, who can also operate at left-back.
The Spanish news outlet add that Xavi is expecting Dest to leave the Camp Nou before the end of the transfer window, as he has not been convinced by the 21-year-old.
Manchester United are trying to bring the asking price down by offering Diogo Dalot as part of the deal, although Barcelona are not interested, and only want cash.
Erik ten Hag worked with Dest at Ajax, and is keen on a reunion – Chelsea are also said to be monitoring him.
Interest in the American comes after he made 31 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona last season, providing three assists.
Forget Manchester United – Leeds would be perfect for Dest
In our view, Leeds should attempt to hijack Manchester United’s negotiations with Barcelona, as Dest would be the ideal signing for them.
Leeds need a new left-back after Junior Firpo suffered a serious quad injury, so there is a place for the American in the starting XI at Elland Road.

Additionally, Marsch should be able to help his fellow American settle in England, while Leeds seems to be a far healthier place to play football at the moment in comparison to Manchester United.
In our view, Dest could quite easily become miserable and unsettled at Old Trafford, where things haven’t even worked out for the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jadon Sancho, two brilliant young talents.
Keep an eye on this situation, as we expect Dest to leave Barcelona this summer.
