West Ham United could now be offered the chance to sign Manchester United’s Scott McTominay as part of a deal for Declan Rice.

Manchester United are considering offering up Scott McTominay in a move for West Ham United star Declan Rice.

That is according to a report from The Telegraph, who suggest that United are now considering trying to beat Arsenal to Rice’s signature.

Arsenal have now had a second bid of £90million – consisting of £75million plus £15million in add-ons – rejected for Rice.

The Gunners are still pushing to get Rice snapped up but their failure to tempt West Ham means other clubs are now sniffing around.

West Ham have been demanding £100million for their captain but Manchester United may now look to bring that price down with an exchange deal.

Midfielder McTominay is one player United could offer up with defender Harry Maguire another.

However, Maguire’s wages could be a big problem for West Ham and it’s unclear whether McTominay actually wants to leave Old Trafford.

West Ham do fancy McTominay though with the Hammers interested even before the notion of an exchange was brought up.

Scott McTominay should be interested in West Ham United

McTominay has real loyalty to Manchester United and absolutely loves the club, so tempting him away won’t be easy.

Yet if the 26-year-old really wants to kick on, a move to West Ham could be ideal for him.

The Scotland international is unlikely to be a regular first-team player under Erik ten Hag whereas David Moyes would give him a key role.

McTominay has shown off his goalscoring ability for Scotland, proving that he can make a real difference as a box-to-box player breaking into the penalty area.

Rice developed that side of his game and it’s easy to see how West Ham may feel that McTominay can replace the England star.

The Europa Conference League winners should be very appealing to McTominay and whilst giving up on his Manchester United dream would be difficult, a move could be perfect for him.
