Manchester United are reportedly lining up a January move for Victor Lindelof.
According to Sky Sports, Manchester United have made Benfica defender Victor Lindelof their top January transfer target, with Jose Mourinho keep to upgrade his defensive options.
The Red Devils splashed out for centre back Eric Bailly over the summer, but the Ivorian is currently out injured, and Mourinho has been left chopping and changing his central defenders in recent weeks.

Chris Smalling, Daley Blind, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo have all featured at centre back this season, but it seems that Mourinho wants to bring in another young central defender to be Bailly’s long-term partner.
Sky Sports now report that United have identified Benfica star Victor Lindelof as their top target, and have made tentative enquiries about a January move for the player.

Lindelof, 22, joined Benfica from his hometown club Vasteras in 2012, and after plying his trade with Benfica’s B team, he has become one of the most important players for the Portuguese side.
The centre back broke into Benfica’s first-team on a regular basis last season, and his performances handed him a spot in Sweden’s Euro 2016 squad alongside Manchester United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Now, the duo could end up reuniting at Old Trafford, as it’s claimed that United want to lure Lindelof to the Premier League in January, with the Red Devils making their first move by making enquiries for the defender.

It’s claimed that manager Mourinho has been monitoring Lindelof for sometime, and could cost more than £25m to prise away from Benfica – but only if the Portuguese giants fail to make it through to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Benfica want to keep Lindelof if they progress, so United will be keeping a close eye on their final group game against Napoli as they bid to land one of the top young defenders in Europe.
