Manchester United have reportedly joined the race for Giovani Lo Celso.
According to Marca, Manchester United have joined the race to sign Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, after Tottenham failed with a bid.
Lo Celso, 23, struggled for first-team football at Paris Saint-Germain, and was subsequently sent out on loan to Real Betis last summer to continue his development.
The Argentina international has been a sensation in Spain, racking up 16 goals and six assists in all competitions, with Betis making the move permanent thanks to a clause in the loan deal.
However, Betis may look to turn a quick profit on the playmaker, and Marca report that Manchester United have now contacted Betis to register their interest in signing him.
United are in need of major reinforcements this summer, and a technically-gifted playmaker like Lo Celso could bring some creativity to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
That’s not exactly what Tottenham will have been hoping to hear, as they’ve been chasing Lo Celso more than any other club, and had a €60million (£53million) bid rejected according to Diario de Sevilla.
Lo Celso reportedly has a €100million (£88million) release clause in his deal, and there may just be more chance of the Red Devils reaching that price than Tottenham.
