According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are interested in bringing Paul Mitchell to Old Trafford in a bid to boost their work in the transfer market.

The Red Devils splashed the cash last summer in order to sign Eric Bailly, Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, whilst Zlatan Ibrahimovic reunited with manager Jose Mourinho on a free transfer too.

Whilst United are into the semi-finals of the Europa League, their Premier League record has been patchy at times, with too many draws costing them a Champions League place right now.

As a result, further spending is expected this summer, and it seems that United are considering a move to boost their efforts in the transfer market.

The Manchester Evening News report that United are considering a move to bring Paul Mitchell to the club, who is best known for having served as Tottenham’s head of recruitment.

The 35-year-old followed manager Mauricio Pochettino from Southampton to White Hart Lane in 2014, and he helped bring the likes of Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Son Heung-min to North London.

Last summer, Mitchell announced his resignation from his post with Spurs, and after serving a notice period, Sky Sports reported that Mitchell had left White Hart Lane and been placed on gardening leave.

In the hope of finding the next Alli – or in a bid to aid their pursuit of the Spurs ace himself – United are now believed to be interested in luring the Manchester-born transfer guru back to his home city, but rivals Manchester City are also believed to be interested following his Tottenham exit.
