Manchester United are reportedly looking to sign James Maddison.

According to The Independent, Manchester United are discussing a potential deal for Leicester City playmaker James Maddison.

The Red Devils are in desperate need of reinforcements this summer, and a whole host of British talents have been linked in order to bolster Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Declan Rice, Sean Longstaff, Daniel James, the list goes on. Now, it seems that Leicester star Maddison can be added to that exact list.

The Independent claim that United have suddenly moved to the front of the queue for Maddison, making him their new priority target.

It’s believed that United are discussing a deal which would cost around £60million, leapfrogging Tottenham Hotspur in the race in the process.

Maddison, 23, racked up seven goals and seven assists in his first Premier League season for the Foxes, whilst also racking up a remarkable 100 key passes – more than any other Premier League player.

Maddison may well be the creative force United sometimes lack in midfield, and it would be little surprise if they paid the £60million for him, despite costing around a third of that just a year ago.

Spurs still have the advantage of Champions League football compared to United’s Europa League, but money talks – and Tottenham may need to come up with a staggering offer to beat United to Maddison.
