According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Manchester United have become the latest team to register an interest in West Brom defender Jonny Evans – who they will come up against later today.

Evans appears to be one of the most highly sought-after defenders in the Premier League right now having enjoyed a brilliant spell with the Baggies, with the Mirror reporting that both Arsenal and Manchester City are keen on signing the Northern Ireland international during the January transfer window.

But they will now have to see off competition from Evans’ former club United – who sold the defender for £6 million in 2015 – if they want to land the 29-year-old.

The Mirror reports that West Brom will consider selling the centre-back next month should they receive a bid of £30 million – and given the sides chasing his signature, it would certainly be no surprise if they did have a bid of that amount to respond to at some stage.

Evans has been excellent during his time with the Baggies, and it would undoubtedly be a massive blow for Alan Pardew’s men if they were unable to get through January without losing him.

West Brom’s job of trying to keep their stalwart will unquestionably become a lot tougher should he put in an excellent performance when the Baggies face United at The Hawthorns today.
