Manchester United appear to be keen on signing a new goalkeeper this summer – and two former Red Devils are on the radar.
West Bromwich Albion stopper Sam Johnstone has been linked with a return to Old Trafford, and The Sun now report that Tom Heaton is another target.
It’s suggested that if Johnstone doesn’t want a move, then Aston Villa goalkeeper Heaton will be wanted back at United.
United do have Dean Henderson, but with David De Gea’s future unclear and Sergio Romero set to leave, Heaton is viewed as a potential siging.
The 35-year-old joined United from Wrexham back in 2002, and spent eight years in their ranks before heading to Cardiff City.
Heaton, who has three caps for England, ended up starring with Burnley, becoming one of the Premier League’s top goalkeepers before heading to Villa in 2019.

In January 2020, Heaton suffered a major injury, and with Emiliano Martinez now Villa’s first-choice stopper, Heaton hasn’t played at all this season.
To go from that to being signed by United would be quite the turnaround for Heaton, but Villa may be happy to get his wages off the books and move on.
