The Barcelona ace is wanted by Manchester United and Chelsea, according to reports.

A report emanating from Spain today suggests that the Red Devils have had a £36 million bid for Sergi Roberto rejected by Barcelona, according to Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo.

Jose Mourinho has already spent big this summer, bringing Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic to Old Trafford for a combined £150 million.

The Portuguese is still thought to be in the market for reinforcements, however, as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of this season’s gruelling campaign both domestically and on the continent.

And Mundo Deportivo claim that United view the Barca ace as the ideal signing this summer, what wth his quality and versatility. They report that the three time European Cup winners offered the La Liga side £36 million to secure the services of the 25-year-old, but were swiftly rebuffed.

The Spanish outlet also claim that Chelsea are monitoring developments, with an eye to making a bid for the Spaniard.

Whether United go back in for Roberto remains to be seen, but it will obviously take a fairly hefty sum to tempt the Catalonian giants into selling the midfielder.
