Manchester United are keen on Tiemoué Bakayoko.

Manchester United are keen on signing Monaco midfielder Tiemoué Bakayoko, according to The Sun.

Bakayoko, 22, is a potential future France teammate of Paul Pogba, having won 13 under-21 caps, and could link up with the world record signing at Old Trafford.

Bakayoko has played a key role on helping Monaco to the Champions League last 16, with back to back wins over Tottenham.

The prospect is also eligible to play international football for Ivory Coast, but has always played at youth level for France. A senior call-up is only a matter of time and his case could be helped by a high profile move.

The Sun report Bakayoko could be a long term replacement for Michael Carrick, who has been an essential figure for United this season but is 35-years-old.

Like Pogba, Bakayoko is powerfully built but also has a subtlety to his game, completing 88 per cent of his passes this season for the Ligue 1 side. Unfortunately for United, Premier League leaders Chelsea are also battling to sign him.
