Manchester United keen on selling Luke Shaw to title rivals Chelsea or Tottenham.
Manchester United are open to cashing in on left-back Luke Shaw with the defender failing to win the trust of manager Jose Mourinho, The Independent report.
United would even let him leave to sign with a title rival, with The Independent reporting the Red Devils have earmarked Tottenham Hotspur and Mourinho’s former club Chelsea as potential buyers.
This even factors in Tottenham’s star left-back Danny Rose, with United hoping they could even sign him themselves, and being aware of interest from Manchester City, reported by The Sun earlier this month.
Spurs could potentially let Rose leave for an inflated fee and sign Shaw for cheaper, even if it was close to the £27 million United paid Southampton in 2014.
Shaw would have to be tempted by a move to either Chelsea or Tottenham, but it is the latter which surely has more appeal.
This is because Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was the manager he thrived under at Southampton, and if anybody could get him to fulfil his potential, then it is the Argentine.
Shaw’s United career was derailed in it’s second season by a serious injury which cost him a place at Euro 2016, but since returning to fitness he has not seen eye to eye with Mourinho, being publicly criticised on two occasions.
The defender is just 21-years-old, and has made just six starts this season in the Premier League. United are reportedly not considering a sale until the summer.
