Manchester United’s Chris Smalling is not interested in West Ham despite their interest.

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling will snub advances from West Ham, according to The Mail.

Smalling is set to hold talks over his future at Manchester United this week, but is only willing to leave the Red Devils for a club in the Champions League.

The Express reported last month that West Ham had ‘moved to the front of the queue’ to sign the centre-back.

Smalling was a key player under Louis van Gaal at Manchester United but saw his role diminish under Jose Mourinho last season.

The 27-year-old made only 13 Premier League starts, plus a further five substitute appearances.

With United signing Benfica centre-back Victor Lindelof, Smalling’s chances this coming season could be even more limited.

This is a crucial season for Smalling as he bids to earn a place in England’s World Cup squad and starting line up.

Refusing to move to West Ham could come back to bite him if he ends up sat on the Manchester United bench each week he could quickly end up regretting not taking the potential chance to play first team football.
