Manchester United might be missing Luke Shaw for the beginning of the campaign following the latest news regarding his health.

According to the Telegraph, Shaw played three games at the European Championships with broken ribs.

He suffered the injury against Germany in the round of 16 and soldiered on through to the final.

Clearly, the pain did not affect England’s full-back as he was excellent during the run, managing to score in the finale.

However, United want to assess the defender’s fitness before the start of this season to work out how much damage has been done.

Are you Shaw?

The Telegraph claim that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would have liked Shaw to return immediately after the Euros for scans.

Instead, the 26-year-old jetted off on a well-earned break before he re-joins the team for pre-season.

Depending on the extent of the left-backs problems, United could be without two key players when they take on Leeds United in under a month.

Marcus Rashford is set to have surgery on his shoulder. He will certainly miss the Premier League’s opening weekend if it goes ahead.

This operation has been a long time in the making and one that could keep him out for 12 weeks.

Solskjaer does have options to cover the English pair, namely in new arrival Jadon Sancho and Alex Telles.

Yet, they will be a big loss to the Red Devils, considering how crucial their contributions were in the previous term.

Rashford was second top scorer behind Bruno Fernandes with 21 goals, whilst Shaw was named the club’s players’ player of the year.
