Manchester United want Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, and are hopeful of getting him.
The Mail report Manchester United are closing in on a deal for Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgian striker is keen to leave Everton and turned down their contract offer earlier this summer.
Chelsea have been strongly linked to Lukaku but The Mail report Jose Mourinho is close to winning the race for the powerful forward.
Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku
United and Everton are negotiating over Wayne Rooney’s transfer to the Toffees, but the deals are being looked at as separate transactions, rather than a swap deal, even if in effect, that is what it will amount to.
Everton are claimed to want close to £100 million for Lukaku, who netted 26 goals in the Premier League last season.
The world record transfer is the £89 million United paid Juventus to sign Paul Pogba last summer.
Lukaku is desperate to play Champions League football and will get the chance to do that at United after the Red Devils earned qualification by winning the Europa League in May.
