According to The Mirror, Manchester City youngster Tosin Adarabioyo is set to join Sunderland on loan as he pursues first-team football away from the Etihad Stadium.

New Sunderland boss Simon Grayson tied up permanent deals for Jason Steele, Robbin Ruiter, Aiden McGeady and James Vaughan, whilst also bringing in Tyias Browning, Brendan Galloway and Lewis Grabban on loan from Premier League clubs.

Grayson has enjoyed a fairly decent start to life at the Stadium of Light, but with three goals conceded away at Barnsley last weekend, another defender appears to be heading to Wearside before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The Mirror report that Manchester City youngster Tosin Adarabioyo is poised to join Sunderland on a season-long loan deal, with the Premier League side keen to give him first-team football elsewhere.

Adarabioyo, 19, was born in Manchester and has come up through the ranks with City having joined way back in 2003, though he has been limited to just four first-team appearances for Pep Guardiola’s men.

City fought hard to keep Adarabioyo after a contract wrangle, and after tying him down to a new deal in June, Guardiola looks set to loan him out for experience with Sunderland.

The Times reported earlier today that Fulham, Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday were vying to take Adarabioyo on loan, but it’s now claimed that Sunderland have won the race, with a deal allegedly imminent.

Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Adarabioyo is a giant central defender who will offer great strength and aerial ability in the Sunderland defence, adding competition to the likes of Browning and Lamine Kone as Grayson looks to tighten up his back line.
