West Ham United are reportedly planning a move for Manchester City’s Bacary Sagna.

According to The Mirror, Manchester City defender Bacary Sagna is keen on a return to London as West Ham United plot a move to sign him this summer.

Sagna, who turns 34 this week, has become a Premier League veteran over the last ten years, having joined Arsenal from Auxerre in July 2007.

The right back racked up almost 300 appearances for the Gunners having become Arsene Wenger’s first-choice right back, but he had just one trophy to show for his seven years with the club; the 2014 FA Cup.

Sagna moved on to Manchester City in search of more success at the end of the 2013-14 season, but has also won just one trophy with the Blues – and that was the League Cup last season.

With over 75 appearances for City, Sagna continues to be a Premier League regular, but his contract expires at the end of the season, and with Pep Guardiola potentially looking for younger options at the back, Sagna could be on his way out.

Now, The Mirror report that West Ham United are keen to snap up Sagna on a free transfer at the end of the season, and their hopes could be boosted amid claims that he is keen on a return to London.

Having spent so much time with Arsenal, a return to the capital looks to be appealing to Sagna, and West Ham may look for another right back given Sam Byram’s injury problems and Alvaro Arbeloa’s lack of impact since joining last summer.

Sagna fits the bill for West Ham given that he’ll be available for free and allegedly wants a return to London, but having gone down the tried-and-tested route with Arbeloa in 2016, manager Slaven Bilic should at least be wary of making the same mistake again.
