Manchester City and Manchester United have reportedly been rebuffed in attempts to sign Danny Rose.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur left back Danny Rose will be handed another new contract in a bid to fend off interest from Manchester City and Manchester United.

Spurs decided to sell right back Kyle Walker to Manchester City just days ago, with the England international completing his move to the Etihad Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Whilst Tottenham may now turn their attention to signing another right back to replace Walker, it seems that they may have to fend off more interest in some of their star players.

The Mirror report that City actually wanted to strike a double deal with Spurs at the last minute of talks over Walker, as they were looking to take Danny Rose to the Etihad Stadium as well.

However, Spurs stood firm, with chairman Daniel Levy rejecting that approach and other moves from Manchester United – and Tottenham will now look to keep Rose in North London for the long-term.

It’s claimed that, whilst Rose only signed a new contract until 2021 in September, Spurs have now moved to offer the left back fresh terms having refused to sell him to a big Premier League rival.

Rose has been out injured since January and may even miss the start of the Premier League season, but that won’t stop Tottenham from attempting to tie him down to yet another new contract.

Spurs will hope that Walker’s exit doesn’t spark further sales, and with Levy standing strong against interest in Rose, Tottenham fans can seemingly rest easy for the time being.
