According to Soccer Link, Manchester City have made contact with Paris Saint-Germain defender Tanguy Kouassi to explore a possible summer move.

It’s claimed that technical director Txiki Begiristain contacted Kouassi’s entourage to offer a move to the Etihad Stadium when his PSG deal ends this summer.

However, it may all be in vain as RB Leipzig have laid major groundwork for a deal. The Bundesliga side have allegedly wanted Kouassi since he was just 13.

They’ve been in contact with his family and his representatives, and have scouted him on numerous occasions. A pre-contract agreement may have even been struck, and the expectation is that Kouassi will join Leipzig.

That will not only be a blow for City, but also for Leeds United and Newcastle United. 90Min recently reported that Leeds would be keen to take Kouassi on loan next season if he stayed with PSG.

Meanwhile, Le10 Sport note that Newcastle may look to bring in the teenager once their takeover is done. Leipzig have been linked all along, and are seemingly hot favourites.

The 17-year-old centre back has hit two goals in six Ligue 1 games this season, making 11 first-team appearances in all competitions.

Kouassi has real potential, which is why so many clubs want him. Yet whilst three English clubs are keen, it looks like he’ll be heading to Germany.
