Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions Manchester City have reportedly made La Liga ace Rodri their number one midfield target.

Rodri is eyeing a move away from Atletico Madrid in the summer after emerging as Manchester City’s number one midfield target, as relayed by El Transistor on Cadena Cope (8 April).
Described by many as the ‘new Sergio Busquets’, Rodri returned for a second spell with the Rojiblancos last summer after starring at Villarreal and he has been a big hit under Diego Simeone, controlling the tempo from the base of midfield while establishing himself as a regular Spanish international.
Goal claimed recently that Manchester City have made the 22-year-old their top target as they look to sign a long-term successor for Fernandinho. Pep Guardiola’s side, who also looked at Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, are apparently ready to trigger his £60 million release clause.
And it seems that Rodri would welcome a move to the Premier League champions.

Cadena Cope claims that the classy ball-player has told his agent and the Atletico board that he intends to leave the Wanda Metropolitano this summer, a major blow to a club who have already lost Lucas Hernandez and look set to bid farewell to Diego Godin and Juanfran too.
Manchester City might be one step closer to finally reinforcing their midfield.
