Report: Manchester City set to make £25m offer for West Brom defender Jonny Evans

West Bromwich Albion are looking to sign a replacement before selling Jonny Evans.

According to reports from The Times, Manchester City are set to submit their third bid for West Brom defender Jonny Evans in the next few days.

City’s second bid, worth £18 million, for the Northern Irish centre-back, was rebuffed last week. The report claims that the third bid will be more than £25 million for the former Manchester United defender.

Pep Guardiola has spent £130m on full-back trio Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy and Danilo, and is now “determined to sign” Evans before the deadline.

The deal hinges on many factors, but most importantly, West Brom won’t sanction his move unless they have signed a replacement.

According to the Mirror, the Baggies are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Kevin Wimmer, and also aim to sign striker team-mate Vincent Janssen in a £30 million joint deal.

Evans, 29, missed West Brom’s opening two Premier League games against Bournemouth and Burnley with a hamstring injury, and won’t be available for the visit of Stoke City.

The Northern Ireland defender, who has 61 caps for his country, will be training at City’s Football Academy next week with his nation before their World Cup qualifier away to San Marino, and that could help to speed up Evans’s move if City reach an agreement with West Brom by that time.
