Manchester City are reportedly joining the race for Bournemouth star Nathan Ake.

According to The Mirror, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola wants to rival Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake.
Ake, 23, found first-team football hard to come by with Chelsea following a 2011 move from Feyenoord, and after starring on loan with Bournemouth, made his move to the South Coast permanent in 2017.
The Dutchman has developed well under Eddie Howe, and is now a regular in the Netherlands national team setup, with his Premier League displays really catching the eye.
Just days ago, Sky Sports reported that Tottenham are hugely keen on signing Ake in 2019, as they have identified him as an ideal successor to Jan Vertonghen as a ball-playing, left-sided centre back.
Now though, The Mirror claim that Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are joining the race, and could launch their own bid – most likely at the end of the season.
John Stones and Aymeric Laporte have impressed this season, and Guardiola even has Vincent Kompany and Nicolas Otamendi at his disposal too, but seemingly wants to lure Ake to the Etihad Stadium.

It’s believed that Guardiola has monitored Ake since he signed for Bournemouth and almost made a move this past summer, and is now considering a move in 2019 as he lines up another outstanding defender.
That would be a huge blow for Spurs and their plans to land the perfect successor to Vertonghen, and may forced them to launch a January bid, though Bournemouth are unlikely to sell mid-season.
