According to The Telegraph, Manchester City are considering a move for Athletico Paranaense left-back Abner Vinicius.
What’s the story?
Well, Pep Guardiola is currently lacking depth in the left-back department at Manchester City.
Oleksandr Zinchenko is his only natural option in that role, although Joao Cancelo can play there if needed.
The Telegraph state that Vinicius has been tipped to leave Athletico Paranaense – who Fernandinho used to play for – in order to join a club in Europe.
The Citizens are no strangers to entering the South American market.
Whilst Fernandinho was signed from Shakhtar Donetsk, Manchester City went directly to Brazil to buy Gabriel Jesus and Douglas Luiz.
The Telegraph believe Manchester City have sent scouts to watch Vinicius.
Back in the summer, the South American also won a gold medal at the Olympic Games, where he played alongside the likes of Gabriel Martinelli.
What should Manchester City expect from Abner Vinicius?

If Guardiola gets his hands on Vinicius, the Etihad Stadium faithful can expect an exciting, dynamic full-back who loves to attack.
Impressively, Vinicius also boasts a fantastic amount of experience for his age.
At just 21, he has already made 99 senior appearances, winning the Campeonato Paranaense in 2020 and the Copa Sudamericana in 2021.
Spanish news outlet MARCA add that Vinicius has excellent stamina, and is a better attacker than he is a defender.

As a result, he should be a good fit for Guardiola’s attack-minded system.
Manchester City need depth in every position if they’re to win the Champions League as well as the Premier League.
Therefore, you should keep an eye on this saga, as it’s very likely that Guardiola moves to sign another left-back, in our view.
