According to Bild, Manchester City tried to use Leroy Sane as part of an attempt to sign Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich over the summer.
The German news outlet say that Pep Guardiola’s side attempted to find an immediate replacement for the Germany international in the Frenchman.
However, they were unsuccessful in their approach.
Bayern Munich eventually ended up signing Sane anyway for a fee of £40.9 million, although they kept Coman at the Allianz Arena as well.
Now, if the Citizens had managed to sign the former Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus attacker, it would’ve been a brilliant addition.
Coman is just 24, but already has league titles in Germany, Italy and France as well as one Champions League success to his name.

Impressively, it was the 25-cap France international who scored the winning goal in August’s Champions League final against his old side PSG.
The Paris-born forward is also absolutely rapid.
As the Bundesliga’s official website document, Coman said that he’s “pretty much the same” speed as PSG striker Kylian Mbappe.

Seeing as the 22-year-old is lightning quick, that’s something for Coman to be very proud of.
It would’ve been interesting to see how the Bayern Munich No.29 got on under Guardiola’s tutelage.
Who knows, perhaps the Citizens will go back in for him one day – watch this space.
