Italian outlet CMW claim Manchester City are willing to include both Ilkay Gundogan and Oleksandr Zinchenko in a deal to sign Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt. De Ligt is worth in the ragion of £95million.

De Ligt, still only 22, has spent the last three years at Juventus since joining the club from Ajax. He has already clocked up 117 appearances and Juve will be keen to keep him, especially with Giorgio Chiellini departing.

However, every player has his price and Juventus might be open to his exit if they receive an enormous offer. Manchester City are prepared to include two players and a fee between £35million and £43million.

That is, alongside midfielder Gundogan – who is in the final year of his contract at City. Also in the deal, Ukraine international Zinchenko. The duo are rated themselves between £43million and £52million.

Manchester City to include Gundogan and Zinchenko in de Ligt deal

What a sensational move it would be in terms of such a big cash offer, and two very valuable players included. But does it really benefit Manchester City, losing such a crucial midfield cog and arguably, their best left-back?

Ultimately, no. Especially when considering that Manchester City do not really need a centre-back. They still have Ruben Dias, Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Nathan Ake – though the latter is being linked with an exit.

Perhaps they move for de Ligt if his Netherlands teammate Ake does go. But to lose Gundogan and more importantly, Zinchenko in a deal, would not benefit Manchester City – regardless of how good de Ligt is.
