Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have been linked Mateo Kovacic, but it seems that it is Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City who are about to win the race for the Chelsea midfielder.
Both Liverpool and Manchester City have been linked with Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic in the summer transfer window.
90min reported on April 22 that Liverpool and City are keen on the Croatia international and were set to hold talks with the midfielder’s agents.
In early May, journalist Dean Jones reported in GiveMeSport that City’s interest in the £150,000-a-week (SalarySport) star “is genuine”.
City have pressed on with their pursuit of the Croatian star since then, and it now seems that they are able to wrap up a deal for the midfielder.
TalkSPORT have reported that City have agreed personal terms with Kovacic and are confident of completing a deal with Chelsea.
The Blues are willing to sell the midfielder, and Premier League champions City believe that they will be able to convince Chelsea to sell the 29-year-old to them.

Liverpool could regret missing out on Mateo Kovacic to Manchester City
Manchester City are the best team in England and have just won the Premier League title for the third season in a row.
City have also won the FA Cup this season and could clinch the UEFA Champions League as well.
And they think that Mateo Kovacic would make them better.
It shows just how good the Chelsea star is.
And Liverpool could regret missing out on the former Madrid midfielder to City.
Liverpool need to sign quality midfielders to challenge for the Premier League title again.
If City sign Kovacic, then they are only going to get stronger and Liverpool could really struggle to close the gap next season.
