Manchester City will reportedly not make any moves in the January transfer window despite recent rumours on Raheem Sterling and Erling Haaland.
According to the Mirror, Pep Guardiola’s side will not let Sterling leave regardless of reported interest from Barcelona. With the £300,000-a-week star set to remain in Manchester despite losing his starting XI spot.
As well as keeping Sterling, City will not make any signings themselves, with Haaland a player the reigning Premier League champions have been heavily linked with over the past few months.
After the departure of Sergio Aguero in the summer, City have no natural striker in their squad. Moreover, with Haaland’s release clause set to activate in 2022, the Borussia Dortmund star could be the perfect man to fill this void.
However, it appears that the Bundesliga attacker won’t be joining City in January. With the winter window looking likely to be a quiet one for the Manchester giants barring any dramatic turn of events.
As we know, though, things can change quickly in football. And January could well turn into a month where City will have to dip into the market. Moreover, rival clubs could now sense an opportunity to recruit Haaland with the Manchester side letting their guard down.
January business could benefit City in the long-term

Whilst Guardiola seemingly remains adamant on retaining Sterling, the Catalan manager could be making a smart decision trying to sell the attacker whilst also signing Haaland in January.
After all, the Dortmund striker could realistically lead the City attack for years to come. And with Haaland available for a set price in 2022, the Manchester side should be doing everything possible to win the race for the 21-year-old superstar.
