Manchester City are reportedly moving for Joe Aribo.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester City have asked about a potential deal for Charlton Athletic talent Joe Aribo ahead of his contract expiring.
Aribo, 22, joined Charlton from non-league side Staines Town in 2015, and has now become a first-team regular at The Valley.
The youngster has hit 10 goals and five assists for Charlton this season, helping fire the Addicks in the League One play-offs – and he’ll be hoping to win promotion this month.
However, Aribo is out of contract this summer, meaning he’ll be free to walk away from the club in a matter of weeks having resisted the chance to commit his future to Charlton.
Now, the Daily Mail report that whilst Arsenal are keen to take Aribo to North London, Manchester City have now made their first move for the midfielder.
It’s claimed that City have now asked about the possibility of signing Aribo, in a deal which would still require compensation despite him being out of contract.
City would either be able to agree a deal with Charlton or go to tribunal, and the lure of playing for Pep Guardiola’s league winners may just tempt Aribo into snubbing Arsenal.
Whether he’d make the grade at City is another matter, and seeing the likes of Jack Harrison being signed before being loaned out elsewhere may just mean Aribo has something to think about before making a move to the Etihad Stadium.
