The former Manchester United defender is said to be attracting Manchester City’s attention, as he stalls on a new West Bromwich Albion contract.

Manchester City are interested in West Bromwich Albion’s former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans, according to Sky Sports.

And it is claimed that City have already had a bid turned down for the Northern Ireland international.

Evans came through the ranks at Manchester United, but left for West Brom two years ago.

However, the 29-year-old has yet to commit to a new contract at The Hawthorns, despite reports claiming a deal was close earlier this summer.

It follows a succession of bids from Leicester City for the player, the last of which was said to be worth £15 million.

The value of Manchester City’s bid remains to be seen, however, although the Citizens’ interest could give both player and club something to think about, with Pep Guardiola’s side able to offer Evans a greater chance at competing for silverware both domestically and on the continent.

Having said that, the West Brom player is likely to have some reservations about the move given his Manchester United connections.
