Manchester City are interested in signing defender Hector Bellerin from Premier League rivals Arsenal in the summer transfer window, according to The Times.
It has been reported that City are looking for a new right-back and have identified Bellerin as a suitable candidate.
According to The Times, Pablo Zabaleta is expected to leave the Citizens in the summer transfer window and re-join Roberto Mancini at Italian giants Inter Milan.
It has been claimed that City want to recruit Bellerin as a direct replacement for Zabaleta.
“Bellerin is particularly attractive to City because, despite being born in Barcelona, he counts as a homegrown player as he spent three successive years before his 21st birthday in England, which would effectively enable them to register an additional player in their Champions League squad,” adds the report in The Times.
Bellerin is just 21 years of age and is one of the best young defenders in the Premier League.
The Spain international right-back has established himself in the Arsenal starting lineup and will feature for Spain at the Euro 2016 finals in France in the summer.
The youngster scored one goal and created 22 chances in 36 Premier League appearances for the Gunners this past season.
Bellerin had a pass accuracy of 86% and a shot accuracy of 38%, and won 38 headers, 63 dribbles and 47 tackles.
