According to SPORT, Manchester City have opened talks to sign Palmeiras attacker Gabriel Veron.
It’s claimed that City and their rivals Manchester United are both in talks to try and thrash out a deal for Veron.
Barcelona are thought to be interested, but can’t do anything about it whilst their presidential race is ongoing.
The Manchester duo are now leading the race, and are hoping to close a deal as soon as possible – before Barca can get their house in order.
A deal for Veron could cost around €20million (£18million), though Palmeiras would ideally like a little more – something like the €32million (£28million) they sold Gabriel Jesus to City for in 2016.
One interesting note is that Veron played for Brazil at the Under-17 World Cup in 2019, and City have signed two of his teammates from that side – Yan Couto and Diego Rosa.

Veron may well be attracted by the idea of reuniting with Couto and Rosa in the City setup, even if they’re unlikely to play in the first team any time soon.
Veron, 18, is more of a winger than a striker, so isn’t exactly like Jesus, but has notched six goals and three assists in his last 22 senior outings for Palmeiras.
Having had success with Jesus, City could now raid Palmeiras again for Veron – but they will have to beat United to sign him.
