According to CBS Sports, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been promised new signings this summer to bolster his squad.

It’s claimed that a new midfielder ‘will arrive’, whilst a new left back is also wanted at the Etihad Stadium given issues in that area.

Another striker is also wanted given question marks over Sergio Aguero’s future, with Romelu Lukaku and Erling Haaland unlikely to sign.

A new midfielder seems wise given that Fernandinho is now 35 and could leave the club on a free transfer this summer, with Rodri needing some competition.

That means a holding midfielder rather than a playmaker may be on the radar, though somebody with positional versatility like Ilkay Gundogan would be ideal.

At left back, Benjamin Mendy looks a shadow of his former self whilst Oleksandr Zinchenko is depth in that area, with Joao Cancelo better on the right.

Finding a consistent option at left back has to be a priority, and Guardiola certainly needs to make that position a strong focus this summer.

If City can sort out those two positions and then add another striker, Guardiola would surely feel that this is a perfect window.
