Manchester City are reportedly keen on Tottenham defender Ben Davies.
According to The Sun, Manchester City are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies, with Pep Guardiola keen to add new faces to his squad.
City snapped up John Stones from Everton over the summer, but Guardiola has seen his defence struggle this season, with too many ageing or injury-prone parts at the back.
Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Kompany, Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov are all in their 30’s, and it’s imperative that City bring in younger defenders, particularly at full back.

Now, The Sun report that City are keen on Tottenham Hotspur’s Ben Davies, who ticks a number of boxes for Guardiola and City.
The 23-year-old would be a homegrown player, something City will be keen to add, whilst it’s stated that Guardiola wants somebody who can play at left back and centre back having missed out on Holger Badstuber, who joined Schalke earlier this month.

Davies is primarily a left back, having played there for Spurs and former club Swansea City, but he also played as a left-sided centre back in a back three for Wales at Euro 2016, and that versatility is believed to have attracted City’s interest.
City would allegedly be willing to offer up £20million to try and land Davies, who has made just three Premier League starts this season having been stuck behind arguably the division’s best left back, Danny Rose.
It’s hard to see Tottenham selling to a direct top four rival in mid-season though, and another factor to consider is that Spurs are awaiting news on Jan Vertonghen’s injury, sustained in Saturday’s 4-0 win over West Brom.
The report states that Davies may be needed as a left-sided centre back in a back three for Spurs should Vertonghen miss considerable time, and whilst a summer move may be more sensible as Spurs could land a replacement, Mauricio Pochettino’s men should resist any City bid for Davies this month.
