Manchester City are currently leading the race to sign Gremio forward Everton Soares as the Brazil international edges closer to a big-money move to Europe, as reported by The Sun.

Everton is one of the most exciting young talents in South America right now and, after scoring 16 goals in all competitions in the 2018 campaign, looks set to be handed his big break in the near future.

The Sun claims that Manchester City have held talks with Gremio in the last few days as they look to beat Serie A giants AC Milan to the 23-year-old’s signature.

A versatile and skilful forward who can play anywhere across the frontline, Everton has a release clause worth £90 million in his contract but it is claimed that Gremio will let him go for £45 million over the summer.

Interestingly, City appear to have been scouting Everton since Pep Guardiola took over in 2016.

UOL Esporte claimed three years ago that Manchester City had held initial talks with the then 20-year-old before concluding a deal for another Brazilian wonderkid, Gabriel Jesus, a few months later.
