According to The Mirror, Manchester City are convinced that Kyle Walker will be joining them from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
City ended their season with a 5-0 thumping of Watford on Sunday afternoon, meaning they finished in third place in Pep Guardiola’s first campaign – a full 15 points adrift of league champions Chelsea.
Guardiola will be expected to close that gap and challenge for the Premier League title next season, but he will need to spend heavily in order to re-tool a creaking defence, particularly at right back.
Both Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna are out of contract and look set to leave the club, meaning Guardiola will certainly have to bring in one new right, possible two, with Kyle Walker emerging as their top target.
General View of White Hart Lane
The Mirror report that City are ‘convinced’ that Tottenham star Walker will be joining them this summer, with the 26-year-old thoroughly expected to be leaving White Hart Lane.
Walker, who joined Spurs from Sheffield United in 2009, has developed into arguably the Premier League’s best right back under Mauricio Pochettino, but seems set to depart having been dropped for Kieran Trippier in recent weeks.

The England international only signed a new contract in September 2016, so whilst he may well look to leave this summer, it’s suggested that the fee for his signature could reach £50million as Spurs chairman Daniel Levy looks to strike a huge deal.
It’s added that Walker wants a return to the north of England this summer, meaning that City are ahead of Chelsea and Bayern Munich in the race for his signature, with Guardiola’s men seemingly sure that a deal will be done this summer.
